Regular bedding such as your pillow and mattress may not always be the most suitable options for supporting your positive airway pressure therapy. Successful sleep apnoea treatment often requires looking at other aspects in your life to see how and where you can make improvements.
Your pillow has the most direct influence on your therapy compliance. Soft pillows, where your head sinks in to, often interfere with the mask. When the mask digs in it may cause an uncomfortable pressure on your face or leaks may occur. When the mask sinks into the pillow, the mask's exhaust may also be blocked, causing CO2 build-up inside.
We don't offer any mattresses specifically for CPAP users but it is important to understand the role your mattress has with sleep apnoea treatment. A comfortable mattress will prevent you from rolling around, reducing mask pull and ultimately promoting a better sleep.
If you are overweight, a mattress with excellent weight distribution properties may be of benefit. Memory foam and latex are known to distribute your weight evenly and support your body from top to toe. This type of mattress can reduce uncomfortable pressure points, offering you a better night's sleep with less numbness and rolling around.
