Thought you knew what a CPAP machine?
Think again. The Fisher & Paykel ICON Novo CPAP Machine is redefining expectations of what a CPAP machine can be. Stylish and modern design? Check. Built-in humidifier and heating tubing? Check. It's been a while since Fisher & Paykel and you can see why – they've spent a huge amount of time working on the ICON range, addressing all of the problems associated with CPAP and creating the most intelligently-designed system to date. And all you do to control it is twist the centre dial and click – it could barely be any easier.
The design of the ICON Novo is a departure from regular CPAP convention. A CPAP machine may be medical equipment, but that doesn't mean it has to look like medical equipment. Instead it's designed to look like a regular household appliance, with a sleek, modern look. You will no longer being trying to find space for your CPAP machine alongside your alarm clock any more either – it has one built-in. And one that can be loaded with your favourite songs as well, allowing you to wake up to the sound of tracks you enjoy. What better way to start the day?
Built-in humidification – no extra space required
Believe it or not, the ICON has a humidifier built-in. This is despite is being of a similar size to regular CPAP machines – which usually have an external humidifier that doubles the size of the unit when connected. Plus the ICON uses ThermoSmart Technology, meaning it has a heated hose. This prevents the warm air from condensing on a cold tube, causing water build-up in the pipe and mask and sometimes leading to a gargling sound. Instead, the air is as warm and humid when reaching your mask as it is when leaving your machine. So no cold air or dry mouth, no rainout, and no extra space required. All the benefits of humidification, with none of the drawbacks.
ICON Premo or ICON Novo?
There are two fixed-pressure models of the ICON. Which one is best for you depends on what features you need. The table on the right shows how the two models compare. This page is for the Novo model. If you would instead like the Premo model, you can find it here.
The main differences are that the Premo has automatic altitude compensation and leak adjustment, as well as more advanced compliance reporting. Both have the built-in humidifier and alarm clock, ThermoSmart heated tubing and proportional ramp.
