What is the SleepWeaver ADVANCE Nasal CPAP Mask?
The SleepWeaver Advance is the latest version of the SleepWeaver family of products. It offers all of the advantages of the original mask but is even better. It is just as soft, but provides better comfort, better fit, it is smaller and it fits a broader range of patients.
Is the SleepWeaver a speciality mask?
No. This mask is intended for any adult OSA patient. It is intended for any patient who has discomfort with the traditional hard plastic masks and nasal pillow systems.
What cloth material is SleepWeaver made of?
The cloth is the same material used to make winter ski clothing.
How long will it take me to become comfortable with SleepWeaver?
Most patients report that the first night using our SleepWeaver is the most comfortable mask they have ever tried. If you are already using CPAP, it should not take any longer than a few minutes to become used to the SleepWeaver Mask. If you are new to CPAP, it may take a few days, even a few weeks, before you become used to the therapy. If your Sleep Apnoea was moderate to severe, you will notice better alertness and sleep quality right away.
In what position can the tubing be run when using SleepWeaver?
With SleepWeaver, it is recommended you place the hose down towards your chest, or off to either side. If you wish to direct the tubing over your head, i.e. behind the headboard of the bed, ensure that a sufficient length of tube is available so that no major kinks are in your tubing.
Can I sleep on my stomach while wearing the SleepWeaver?
Yes. The air pressure in the mask will keep the mask inflated.
Will SleepWeaver work with my existing CPAP or Bi-Level machine?
SleepWeaver works with all CPAP and Bi-Level systems. It features the standard 22mm hose connection.
What is the recommended pressure?
The SleepWeaver has been tested at pressures from 4 cm H2O up to 20 cm H2O with good results.
How do I clean the SleepWeaver Mask?
The mask can be cleaned by hand washing or in a machine using regular laundry detergent in cold or warm water.
It is also recommended that you regularly clean the swivel. The swivel should be disconnected, washed with warm soap and water, allowed to dry and reconnected before the next use.
To reconnect, turn the mask inside out, push the swivel through the tube section of the mask and tape it to the mask using white medical tape.
You can find more detailed directions for cleaning your mask and replacing the tape on our Cleaning and Maintaining your SleepWeaver page, or you can watch the following video:
Does SleepWeaver have an exhalation valve?
The exhalation valve on the SleepWeaver is a series of very small holes that gently and quietly exhaust the exhaled air from the mask. These holes provide quiet operation without creating a jet of air that make a lot of noise or can blow on the patient's bed partner.
What is the leak rate of the exhalation vent?

Which mask do I chose on my Respironics machine that matches the SleepWeaver's vent/leak rate?
The ComfortGel Nasal mask has virtually the same flow rates through its exhalation port as the SleepWeaver. Setting your machine to the ComfortGel gives you the closest match.
Which mask do I chose on my ResMed machine that matches the SleepWeaver's vent/leak rate?
The Mirage and Activa nasal masks are the closest matches but these feature a somewhat higher venting rate than the SleepWeaver. This means that you may feel you are getting a little bit more air in the mask after switching to the SleepWeaver and changing the machine to one of those nasal masks, as less pressure is escaping through its exhalation vent. You can discuss this with your sleep clinic, showing them the leak rate chart above.
Can I read or watch TV with the mask on?
There is a small, unobtrusive, forehead strap that does not obstruct the field of view for reading or watching TV. Because the side straps run underneath your ears, you are able to wear you glasses as normal.
I have dentures. Can I still wear the mask?
Yes. The SleepWeaver can be worn by patients with dentures.
What if I want to travel with my CPAP system?
The SleepWeaver is the smallest and lightest mask for travel available. It folds into a very small size when it is not inflated so that it will fit easily into any carrying case you would use to travel with your CPAP system.
Do you offer a full face mask version of the SleepWeaver?
The SleepWeaver is a Nasal Mask. We do not currently offer a full face mask version of the SleepWeaver, but other versions of our cloth mask design are under development and will be introduced in the future. If you use full face masks because of sinus difficulties, you could try the SinuPulse Elite nasal cleanser to clear your airways, and enable you to utilise the comfort of the SleepWeaver.
