Cleaning your SleepWeaver CPAP mask
It is recommended that you wash your SleepWeaver CPAP mask daily. You can wash the entire mask and headgear in a washing machine with your regular laundry using your usual detergent. Use a gentle cycle with cold or warm water. Never use hot water, as this will cause the mask to shrink and disfigure. Once washed, hang the mask to dry. Never tumbledry it, as this will also cause it to shrink and disfigure. The SleepWeaver mask hangs dry in one to two hours.
You can also hand wash your SleepWeaver interface if you prefer. Wet the mask, and apply some non-abrasive hand soap. Lather the mask up, and then rinse thoroughly. As above, leave your mask to hang dry for an hour or two once finished. Before you dry it, you can also pour a capful of mouthwash over the mask to give it a fresh, pleasant smell. Remember to rinse thoroughly after applying mouthwash to ensure the mask is not stained, and hang to dry.
Replacing the adhesive tape on your SleepWeaver CPAP mask
After a period of wearing and washing, the tape that connects the mask to the swivel will begin to lose adhesion. To replace it, turn the mask inside out and unwind the old tape. At this point you can also choose to wash the swivel if you wish. To disinfect the swivel, soak it in a mixture of water and vinegar at a 2:1 ratio. Afterwards rinse it thoroughly and dry.
To apply the new tape, first push the swivel through the nose hole while the mask is inside out. Now cut a strip of latex-free white medical tape to a length of 10-12 inches (25-30cm). Carefully attach the tape to the swivel and about ¼” of the fabric (5mm). Wrap the tape around the swivel and fabric three times. If you get a wrinkle in the tape while wrapping, simply smooth it out with your finger – unwinding the tape to remove a wrinkle will cause the tape to stretch and lose adhesion. Once finished, turn the mask back to normal and continue to enjoy using your SleepWeaver.
