After over a year I have finally got settled with my machine. The delays in getting things done via my health professional were ludicrous, so I found out how to enter the clinical menu and edit the settings myself. In there is an option labelled QuickView. This gives AHI and other useful data, with options for 1, 7, 30 and 90 day averages. Very useful, though why it is not accessible to the user menu I have no idea, some idiocy on the part of the DeVilbiss control freak squad? I guess. The SmartLink software is a mixed bag and as of version 3.2.0 refuses to read the SD card any more, that is when the application actually manages to run without crashing….. The fact that QuickView is not instantly accessible to the user, and the poor quality of the not so SmartLink software are in my opinion serious omissions / problems. In sight of this I almost wish I had spent the extra cash for a more transparent machine.
If I had waited for my health professional to sort out my levels I would have still had a long way to go. As it is all is now looking good on the sleep side of things as my readings are now routinely below an AHI of 5. I hope the SmartLink software gets sorted quickly as this was a large part of the reason for my picking the DeVilbiss Blue Auto Plus Automatic CPAP machine as it allows me to self regulate my treatment. I would also love to see the QuickView option moved into the user menu area. We can but hope......
The only thing left for me to do now it to get the optional humidifier. It is time these came with the machine??

This machine has some real strengths. The fan is pretty near silent. Like the Sleepcube/Intelipap, it feels sturdy and well built - nothing flimsy about it. The buttons are clear, chunky and illuminated for when you are fumbling aorund at night. And yet it is a size smaller and lighter than the sleepcube - I would be very tempted to use it as a travel machine, it really is that compact. The screen interface is 1000% better and clearer than the Sleepcube. And like the Sleepcube, it just seems to get on with the job in an understated way. It tries to be as unoticeable as possible while still doing the business. But it has two problems. The lesser problem is that I can hear some fan/air noise echoing down the tube: not much, but its noticeable. But when the humidifier is attached, that gets sorted, and it near silent. The bigger problem is that there is no instant readout as to how last night went: DeVilbiss seem fixated in giving any info in the form of a smartcode. OK, you can send it to Intus, or there are sites on the web where you can enter it yourself, and it gives some info. But why all this hassle? Its almost as if it is a secret.... On the plus side, it comes with a sd card slot, and I understand that this records many sleep parameters in a very detailed and comprehensive way. But you need their software package to access all that. Why not a simple AHI on the screen? If you're wanting a reasonably priced, well built, compact machine that just does the job, and are not too interested in the data, I recommend it.
