The Quattro FX CPAP Mask is ResMed's most advanced full-face mask to date. Its stripped-down design means it has the smallest possible contact area with the face, and removes pressure from the key problem areas of the forehead and the nasal bridge. The enhanced suspension in the cushion allows for a softer, more precise seal without the need for excessively tight headgear. A true step forward in full-face mask design.

A revolution in full-face CPAP mask design

The ResMed Quattro FX is a complete re-working of the Mirage Quattro – one of our most popular full face masks. The Quattro FX features an entirely new approach to design, and the result is a compact, comfortable and simple full face mask.

The Quattro FX is possibly the smallest and most unobtrusive mask we have seen. ResMed have stripped away as many contact patches as possible in order to enhance the comfort of the mask. There's no forehead pad, and the Quattro FX sits halfway down the nose. This means the mask makes no contact with the bridge of the nose – a key area of discomfort for many CPAP users. The lack of forehead support also allows you to wear glasses and read – a luxury rarely affordable by a full-face CPAP mask.

Deep cushion offers maximum comfort and support

Usually fewer contact points means that the pressure from the mask is spread over a smaller area, potentially making it more uncomfortable. Not with the Quattro FX, as it features a unique sealing system and a cushion with far more suspension than a regular mask. The extra suspension and flexibility of the cushion allows you to get a comfortable and effective seal without relying on tightening the headgear excessively.

The Quattro FX disassembles quickly and easily for regular cleaning. The headgear design distributes pressure evenly and comfortably, and four adjustment points allow you to get it to fit exactly to your needs. All sizes of the mask are shipped with medium sized headgear, which will fit almost every head size. For the few who find that the medium headgear does not fit then small and large headgears can be ordered separately.

The unique “swing and seal” system means there's no need for constant adjustments – you simply rest the top of the mask on the bridge of your nose, swing it down over your mouth, and put the straps on. It really is that easy. ResMed supply all sizes of this mask with Medium sized headgear, you can get alternative sizes here if required, although the medium headgear should be the vast majority regardless of the size of the mask itself.

What others have said

"Just looking at the on-line photos, you can see this is a good mask - but try it on and immediately you know this is a winner! Take it from me already, for full-facers, this is a must have mask! On the first night I slept all the way through without any remembered problems. This is a must try mask for mouth breathers! It gives me long, deep sleep with minimal or no discomfort and virtually no 'typical CPAP problems'. My sleep has improved so much since I started using the mask. The deep cushion then makes for a very light seal and there is virtually no pressure anywhere. The reason I'm raving about the Quattro FX is that it is utterly different to any other I have experienced and want others to know of this fantastic new product.”

Click to reveal the answers...

Will I be able to use the Quattro FX with my CPAP machine?

Resmed's Quattro FX will be compatible with all CPAP machines currently available on the market.

Do Resmed do any alternatives to the Quattro FX Full Face mask?

Of course, they provide a Quattro FX for Her range which is able to be viewed by clicking this link here which is tailored for female CPAP users.

Do I need to provide any medical details before placing an order for this item?

Not at all - you would only need to provide any medical documentation if you were purchasing a CPAP machine. All other items can be purchased as part of a self-declared CPAP diagnosis.

How do I know which size of the Quattro FX will fit me?

As the Quattro FX comes in three different sizes, you will be able to view a sizing guide provided to us by Resmed, by clicking on the downloads tab you will be able to download, print and size up which mask will fit you.

I've lost/broken one of the parts of my Quattro FX mask, can I order in replacement parts for it?

We currently sell replacement parts of the Quattro FX mask online - if you follow this link here you will be able to order in parts such as: replacement mask cushions and headgear.

How do I keep my Quattro FX clean on a daily basis?

It is recommended that you regularly wash your Airfit N10 in warm soapy water before use to keep the mask clean. We would advise to avoid any antibacterial or bleach based soaps as this can degrade the silicone cushion of the mask.

We also have CPAP Mask Wipes that are available for purchase which we recommend you use before you use your Quattro FX.

AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL! Review by Nicholas

Having had this mask for five full months now, I feel qualified to write this review! I cannot understand how the other reviewers have given it 4* and 5* status; I haven't had a full and undisturbed sleep since I started using it.

I previously had the Mirage Quattro Nasal mask, and following the theft of my suitcase, had to order a new CPAP machine and mask; South African Airways are not very helpful to CPAP machine users, and wouldn't allow me to carry it in hand luggage! Needless to say, as soon as I realised that I wasn't going to get my luggage back, I tried to "repeat" order what I had originally bought; this proved to be a little more difficult than I initially thought, and I ended up ordering this mask by accident. I didn't realise until I'd opened it up and tried it on that it was different, so I set about fitting it properly and getting used to it. Despite my battling with getting it to fit as well as my previous mask did, I've failed. It constantly moves no matter how tight I have the straps, meaning that during the night there is air-leakage, and very, very often the mask will move up the face to expose the mouth; for the first time since I was diagnosed with SA I wake up - often numerous times a night - with a really, really dry mouth...very uncorftable indeed.

I've waited five full months to write this review - and wouldn't normally do so. I am only doing so because I am now ordering a new mask so that I can go back to the great sleep experience that I was used to with the Mirage Quattro Nasal Mask, and these are not cheap items to buy! I have tried everything - including starting from scratch, fitting the straps and trying to get that perfect fit; getting other people to follow the instructions and fit it; even getting someone else to try the mask! Everything has failed.

Please read the reviews above and below careful before you commit your hard earned money to this product!! You will note that below the "great" things about it are recurring comments are air-leakage! It's very, very real!!! Numerous times a night you get woken up and have to re-adjust the mask to stop the air flow into your eyes - and this happens even if, like me, you're not a big mover in your sleep! On you back, on your sides, it doesn't matter - you'll probably not get a full nights sleep while wearing this mask... In fact eventually, you'll go to bed and NOT put it on just to get a full - if not completely satisfying - night without being woken up!

Most satisfactory mask so far Review by //Ari

I have tried some half a dozen different masks. Of these, this is the one that I can wear for more than a few nights in a row. The cushion on the bridge of the nose is the best I have encountered so far. There is a bit of a tendency to leak into the eyes if the fit of the headgear is not right or if I lean too far into the pillow, but overall lightness and comfort is satisfactory.

The velcro-like closures of the headgear seem to wear down over the months. The harness itself will still be very strong and neat, but the velcro will tend to work itself loose during the night. A new headgear is very secure, but after half a year´s use I may wake up in bed when I turn to the other side and one of the closures opens by itself.

Mask itself is my current favourite, the harness a minor grumble.

Mdieval torture? Review by Ginipigg

As a newcomer to CPAP I was supplied with this mask by my sleep clinic. I can only imagine that other masks must be akin to medieval torture instruments of some kind if the Quattro FX is the 'most comfortable'! I have tried for a number of weeks now to use this mask and, regardles how carefully I try to adjust and fit the thing, I get no more than 2-3 hours sleep before being woken by a blast of air in my eyes or other part of my face. I find the slightest sideways pressure moves the thing and causes leaks too. It's not pressure from a pillow either - gravity alone seems enough to pull the mask down sideways on my face causing leaks. It has to be really tight before leaks stop and then any so-called comfort disappears! GRRRR!

Had a review at Hospital and asked to try the new mask. After 4 days I asked the hospital to swop back to my previous Mirage Quattro. Maybe its my face shape who knows, but on several occasions the mask has ridden up over my mouth so in effect not working at all. I have tried with Remmzz cotton liners and same thing, adjusted top straps, bottom straps and same result.

For me maybe the stability of the forehead is paramount so Quattro old model suits me better???

On a positive, FX is light ,comfortable- on a par with Quattro on leak quality and as easy to maintain,However for me fit, stability and most of all reliability and the thought that it is actually giving you a more solid sleep means newer is not always better.

I have been a CPAP user since 1999 and I have found this mask to be the best I have used so far. It has some niggles however, partners don't like being blasted with air all night from the front facing vent. It can be fiddly to put on until you get used to it and getting the straps tensioned just right is very important, if you don't the mask will either ride up your nose or just leak. One other point is the silicone, I don't suffer from skin conditions but have found that it is irritating and sometimes leaves reddish patched on my skin. I have been using Remzz mask liners for over a year now and this completely resolves any problems and makes this comfortable mask even better.

Good mask but silicone is irritating Review by Natty

This is my first CPAP mask and I really like the way it fits snugly and is adjustable to get the fit right, however my biggest disappointment is the silicone material that makes contact to your face. As an eczema sufferer I have found it to irritiate my face to such an extent that it has given me eczema there (normally there would be none). I thought I was alone with this problem but after some googling it seems that resmed face masks are irritating to many eczema sufferers. I have yet to try the Remzzz cotton pads but I am hoping they will offer some relief.

Good once setup Review by KenC

It took several days to get the straps adjusted to suit my less than perfect face. However once adjusted it is reasonably comfortable to wear and fairly leak resistant. I am a side sleeper and only now and then do I put sufficient pressure on the mask to cause eye leaks. I am pleased with the mask it is compact, any morning marks quickly fade away. A real plus is that the mask does not cause soreness on the bridge of the nose, but sits further down. The small down side is that the mask tends to ride up the nose and above the mouth if not adjusted properly.
A particular problem is the limited adjustment on the top straps. these could be longer, I am large size and adjustment is at full length.

Well, I've had a Quattro FX for a few nights now and have given it a good go.

Good points:

Very soft and balloon-like seal - this mask is definitely the most gentle silicone mask I've tried so far. The seal is made and secured by the air pressure inside the mask with the strap pressure holding it in place spreading the physical pressure over a larger area, making it very comfortable. The size of the seal makes it fit my face very well, I have a short, shallow nose and a wide face. Other than an overtightened first night I've had no facial marks in the morning. It's a great seal too, a seal that's comfortable at 15hPa doesn't collapse at 4hPa for the ramp, so once adjusted for your pressure it's a nice quick fit at night.

Fits low on the nose - it secures into the indentation under the bottom lip so isn't up between the eyes but is kind of halfway up your nose, if you've got a sore there from your other masks, this could help provide relief, and there's no hard plastic in that area either it's bridged from the sides with ultra thin silicone.

Clever spring frame - this seems to move the pressure from the straps away from the front of the face and spreads it more evenly, I've only had any facial marks from the straps on the first night because I overtightened it. The springy plastic has a fabric cover that is very soft on the skin.

Noise - this is as quiet as the Sleepweaver and by far quieter than the rest of my collection.

Quick release - always handy.

Bad points:

Being picky really, if you don't get the seal just right it will slide up your face and then leak from the nose into your eyes, it's really important to have a dry, clean and grease free face and seal before fitting.

The low fit means if you nostrils collapse easily this may make it worse, move it up a bit (or possibly try a bigger size)

Venting - your bed partner may not want quite that much air hitting them in the face, but it's not really a side-sleepers mask so maybe not a problem

Other observations:

The "Swing down to fit" is great, until you really need to itch your nose and have to remove and refit it during the night, it's not an easy thing to refit as you have to undo both bottom clips to fit it properly.

I'm not yet comfortable sleeping on my side with this mask, the seal is easily disturbed by sideways pressure but I'm in a Hotel at the moment and my firm sculpted pillow is at home, so I'll reserve judgement until the weekend.

Headgear is a bit small for me, but I'm told they stretch with time (Thanks TF!) so again will reserve judgement for a while...

Compared to other masks:

Far more quiet than the F&P Forma, and less heavy and cumbersome. Slightly heavier and bigger than the ZZZ mask type cheapies but a much better fit.

Conclusions:

I really like it, I don't need a full face mask most of the time but sometimes just can't get to sleep due to congestion or hay fever stuffing up my nose and I prefer not to over use decongestants. The complete lack of marks on my face is a revelation, the Forma leaves mask marks, the sleepweaver leaves strap marks, this has for the last four nights left none at all. No face marks and a great night's sleep make a great combination.

At last Resmed are the ones to sort out the problem of fixing the headgear to the mask - and in doing so, have come up with a brilliant new mask! In the place of the 'wings' sticking out from the sides of traditional mask, Resmed place a 'spider' (albeit with only four legs) over the mask and attach the headgear to the 'spider'. This allows minimal tension on the straps to hold the mask firmly in place over the nose and mouth, whilst allowing it to 'float' on the longer skirt cushion. The mask is not distorted by the headgear using this way of anchoring, so leakage is all but eliminated - and easy to fix by a gentle tug on a strap. Being so small, the mask is easy to use at higher pressures, too.

From the moment I put this mask on, I knew it was the one for me (two and a half years PAPing and six other masks, including my previous favourite, the Quattro). It was instantly comfortable, instantly leak free. In the several nights I've used it, I have slept long and deeply - I've had good stats for a long time but this is a better quality sleep, I feel better and livlier in the mornings.

I've chased stats and tried masks for thirty months and now I feel like I've arrived at my destination with this mask. Relax!

It's brilliant.
