Target the root cause of OSA – not the symptoms

Sleep Apnoea and snoring are problems for many people whose tongue muscles relax during sleep, causing partial airway collapse. eXciteOSA® is the world’s first therapy to target the root cause of this problem.

eXciteOSA® is the world’s first daytime therapy proven to improve tongue muscle tone and endurance, known to be the root cause of sleep apnoea and snoring. It uses safe electrical currents to stimulate and improve muscle functions in the mouth and tongue, effectively giving them a “workout”.

After using for 20 minutes daily for six weeks, the tongue muscle no longer blocks the airway at night, allowing for a restful night’s sleep – with no CPAP or mouthguard required.

Once the initial six-week period is complete, you simply use your eXciteOSA twice a week for 20 minutes during the day to keep your tongue muscles toned.

Clinical studies have shown that 90% of patients found their snoring was reduced by 46% on average thanks to using the eXciteOSA1-3. 79% of Sleep Apnoea patients achieved a reduction in sleep apnoea measures3.

The eXciteOSA® device will deliver small electric currents through the mouthpiece to your tongue; this will stimulate the tongue muscle and improve its tone. The improved tone of the tongue muscle will help keep the breathing passage open during your sleep and reduce the vibration of the throat region.

The eXciteOSA® can be used at any time during the day, but it is recommended to be used before you go to sleep at night.

The mouthpiece is made from flexible silicone, which should sit on your tongue comfortably. If you get any discomfort, reposition the mouthpiece into a comfortable position. Like any other object, when placed in the mouth, you might experience a gag reflex or pooling of saliva in your mouth initially.

The mouthpiece should be replaced every three months. After this period, the effectiveness of the therapy cannot be guaranteed, and the comfort and benefit of the device may reduce if the mouthpiece is not replaced.

Satisfaction guarantee – improvement in six weeks or your money back!

You should notice initial improvements in your snoring and Sleep Apnoea after four weeks. This is dependent upon adherence to the recommended therapy programme of one 20-minute session daily. Although you may see improvement within four weeks, we recommend you finish the 6-week therapy period to ensure you gain the optimal improvement possible. If after six weeks you do not experience an improvement in your snoring and sleep apnoea, then please contact us – we’ll try and find a way to get more out of the eXciteOSA for you or advise how to return the device for a refund if it proves to be unsuitable for you. There’s nothing to lose!

Keep on top of your therapy with the eXciteOSA app

The eXciteOSA® device is controlled by eXciteOSA App. The App connects to the device via Bluetooth to activate the therapy.

Why do I snore?

Snoring is caused by vibration of the structures of the throat during sleep. When you sleep, the muscles of the throat relax and partially collapse. The narrowest parts of the throat can then create turbulence of the air flowing through your throat which makes the snoring sound

You’re more likely to snore if you:

  • are overweight
  • smoke
  • drink too much alcohol
  • sleep on your back
Is snoring dangerous?

It has been shown that snoring affects sleep quality of the snorer and partner.

It is important to note that snoring may just be the tip of the iceberg. Although snoring per se does not damage your health, snoring can be a clue to a more serious condition called obstructive sleep apnoea (intermittent complete blockage of breathing during sleep). If you experiencing snoring as well as daytime tiredness, you may well have sleep apnoea and should consider an in-home sleep test.

Do I have sleep apnoea?

Sleep Apnoea is a serious health condition associated with health problems like high blood pressure and increased risks of heart attack, stroke, or death. It is often associated with daytime sleepiness, and your partner may notice you hold your breath or stop breathing in the night.

If you have these symptoms or are concerned you may have the condition, consider an in-home sleep test or have a discussion with your GP.

How can I reduce my snoring?

Simple lifestyle changes can help to reduce snoring:

  • try to lose weight if you’re overweight
  • don’t smoke
  • reduce or avoid alcohol

Unfortunately, despite these measures, you may still snore and will need to explore other options. eXciteOSA® has been clinically proven to reduce snoring and Sleep Apnoea significantly when used for 20 minutes, once daily for six weeks.

Using your eXciteOSA® after the initial 4-6-week therapy will help keep your tongue muscle toned sufficiently and your snoring controlled. Like any other muscle in the body, to keep it toned, regular conditioning is required.

How does the eXciteOSA® device work?

The eXciteOSA® device will deliver small electric currents through the mouthpiece to your tongue; this will stimulate the tongue muscle and improve its tone. The improved tone of the tongue muscle will help keep the breathing passage open during your sleep and reduce the vibration of the throat region.

What time of the day should I use the eXciteOSA® device?

The eXciteOSA® can be used at any time during the day, but it is recommended to be used before you go to sleep at night.

At what level should I start and what is the optimum level for my treatment?

The intensity always starts at level 1. It is recommended that you increase the intensity to a level that is comfortable for you for each therapy session.

Over the duration of the recommended therapy programme, you will notice that your tolerance levels will increase, and you can go up in intensity comfortably. It is important to avoid increasing the intensity beyond a comfortable level, as the higher intensity will not lead to additional improvement.

Is it uncomfortable to wear the mouthpiece?

The mouthpiece is made from flexible silicone, which should sit on your tongue comfortably. If you get any discomfort, reposition the mouthpiece into a comfortable position. Like any other object, when placed in the mouth, you might experience a gag reflex or increased saliva in your mouth initially.

How do I wear the eXciteOSA® device?

The mouthpiece is connected to the control unit through the USB connector and port. The mouthpiece is then placed into the mouth above and below the tongue. Two flanges of the mouthpiece should sit comfortably above and two below – like a glove. Please don’t bite down on the mouthpiece, as that may damage the device, and it is not necessary to hold the device in position. The mouthpiece is designed such that when you gently close your mouth, it will naturally sit around your tongue and won’t move through the therapy period.

How do I charge the device?

The control unit is charged through the USB port using a USB charging cable. The USB is connected to a power plug and connected to the mains supply. The blue light of the control unit will blink during charging and become continuous when fully charged.

How do I know, it is working?

When the therapy is running the timer on the App will tick down. Additionally, the blue LED on the control unit will blink once every 5 seconds.

How many sessions of 20-minute treatment, can I have with one charge?

On one full charge, you should be able to run six 20-minute therapies. The App won’t allow you to start a new therapy unless there is adequate charge within the control unit to compete a full therapy session.

What should I expect during and after my treatment?

During the therapy you should experience a tingling sensation on the tongue and tongue muscle contractions. As the intensity is increased the muscle contraction will get stronger. Please remember to set the intensity at a level that is comfortable for you. Increasing the intensity beyond comfortable level will not improve the outcome of the therapy session but may become an uncomfortable sensation.

Do I need to wear the eXciteOSA® device during sleep?

No, do not use the device during sleep. The eXciteOSA® device is to be used during the day, awake times only. If possible, it is recommended for the therapy to be administered before going to sleep.

Can I do two treatment sessions together?

It is not recommended to run two therapies one after another. When you finish your therapy session, you will have to wait 3 hours before starting a second session.

How soon do I see the result with eXciteOSA?

You should notice an improvement in your snoring within 4 weeks. This is dependent upon adherence to the recommended therapy programme of one 20-minute session daily. Although you may see improvement within 4 weeks, we recommend you finish the 6-week therapy period to ensure you gain the optimal improvement possible.

Can I use the Mobile App to operate my eXciteOSA® device?

The eXciteOSA® App offers full remote-control functionality of the eXciteOSA® device.

I am struggling with using my new eXciteOSA® device. How could I return it?

Please contact us. We will try and resolve any issues, but rest assured if eXiteOSA proves to be unsuitable for you within the first 6 weeks then we can arrange a return and explore other options that may be more beneficial.

What is the warranty for the eXciteOSA® device?

eXciteOSA Ltd. provides a warranty to the original purchaser confirming the product will be free from defects in the material, components and workmanship of the control unit for a period of one year for the mouthpiece from the date of purchase. The mouthpiece is a consumable item and should be replaced every three months; therefore the mouthpiece has a warranty period of three months. For valid warranty claims, the user must return purchase proof to eXciteOSA® directly.

eXciteOSA warranty does not include any misuse or abuse such as dropping or immersing the control unit in water or other liquid substance or tampering with the unit or normal wear and tear. Any evidence of tampering will void the warranty. This warranty does not apply to “wear and tear” that would occur with usage.

How do I get my eXciteOSA® device repaired?

The eXciteOSA® device contains some very sensitive components and circuits that cannot be repaired. If a fault develops within the warranty period that is not due to misuse and wear and tear, the device will be replaced within the 1-year warranty. If the warranty period has expired, the product cannot be repaired but replaced.

Where do I purchase accessories or replacements for my eXciteOSA® device?

The eXciteOSA® system and accessories are available through the “Daytime Sleep Therapy” section of our website.

What should I do, if the mouthpiece has a crack or fault in it?

Before starting therapy, you should inspect your mouthpiece for any cracks or faults. If any exist, then you should not use the mouthpiece.
