SleepWeaver Elan – The latest in cloth CPAP mask design

The SleepWeaver Elan Soft Cloth CPAP Mask from Circadiance offers the most advanced fabric design to date. The SleepWeaver Elan follows on from the original SleepWeaver and the highly popular SleepWeaver Advance, providing another alternative for those who dislike having to wear rigid plastic masks.

The SleepWeaver Elan is all about freedom; freedom to move and freedom to sleep how you want. The forgiving nature of both the design and the fabric means you can change position how you choose with less chance of losing the seal. The new 90° elbow lets you exit the tubing in whichever direction you wish – above the head, toward the chest or to the side.

The SleepWeaver Elan works in the same way as the Advance; it is inflated by the CPAP machine’s air, creating a cushion that gently pushes towards the face, creating a soft, flexible and secure seal as it does so. The broader but shorter design frees up your light of sight for unimpeded reading or television viewing, while providing a greater level of stability.

What makes SleepWeaver CPAP masks “Skin-Friendly”?

BREATHABLE – Any moisture from the skin or from the CPAP humidifier wicks through the cloth and evaporates into the air stream of the SleepWeaver mask. This keeps the area between the mask and skin dry.

CUSHION OF AIR – The mask forms a fabric balloon so that the portion that contacts the face is a cushion of air, rather than a silicone or polyurethane gel cushion.

NO RIGID FRAME – The is no rigid frame to press against your face. This lets you roll over on your pillow or sleep face down.

NO PRESSURE POINTS – The elastic fabric on the SleepWeaver interface conforms to your facial features.

LIGHTWEIGHT – SleepWeaver masks are typically 50% lighter than conventional CPAP Masks.

The SleepWeaver range of Skin-Friendly CPAP masks are the softest, lightest and natural-to-wear masks available, and are perfect for those who are find conventional plastic masks uncomfortable.

Unsure which size is right for you? Choose the Fit Pack instead!

If you have not tried the SleepWeaver Elan before, we we recommend instead purchasing the SleepWeaver Elan Fit Pack. This has all of the sizes included to ensure you get the right one, along with a lightweight hose extension not included with the individual sizes. Additionally, the Fit Pack has Mask Fit Insurance available, allowing you to return it if you find it is unsuitable. You can find the SleepWeaver Elan Fit Pack here.

For those already using the Elan and are looking for a replacement, you can simply order the mask in the size that you have settled on, making it more cost-effective. Though remember, you can purchase the cushions (the fabric part without the straps or plastic elbow) by themselves here, which provides even better value.

How to fit the SleepWeaver Elan – 2 minute Quick Tips video

The SleepWeaver masks are made from cloth, and therefore the technique for getting them to fit varies greatly from a typical CPAP mask. Below are a couple of short videos to help you get the SleepWeaver Elan working for you. The first is specifically for the SleepWeaver Elan, while the second is for the SleepWeaver range in general. Please watch both, they’re only a couple of minutes in length each but should provide invaluable information to help you get that “just right” fit.

Mask Fit Insurance is available for this mask

If you are considering trying this mask for the first time, you can order in confidence using Mask Fit Insurance.

Mask Fit Insurance costs £14.99 for nasal masks and £19.99 for full face masks, and allows you to return this mask for a refund if unsuitable.

You have 28 days from the dispatch date to assess the mask and notify us that you are unhappy with it for any reason. You can return it and have it refunded (we must receive it back within 7 days of being notified).

The fee for the insurance is non-refundable once the mask is opened, nor are any outgoing postage costs. The mask itself will be refunded in full.

A pre-paid returns label will be included for customers in the UK. We strongly recommend getting a proof of postage (which is free) as returns not received cannot be refunded. For overseas customers, the return postage will need to be arranged by the customer and this cannot be reimbursed.

CPAP masks purchased without insurance cannot be returned/refunded once opened for hygiene reasons, as explained in our returns policy.

Mask Fit Insurance must be ordered at the same time as the mask in question, and cannot be added retroactively.

Intus Healthcare reserve the right not to honour any orders containing multiple masks purchased with Insurance; please instead choose which mask you feel is most suitable and select the size required as per the sizing gauge (if applicable). Should you subsequently determine a different mask or size is required, you can of course return the first and order the other.

If you need any further information, please use the chat function (if available), or contact us.

brilliant. Having struggled with another couple of masks am very impressed with a massive 6 hours of use on first night with this one. Added to the fact that if you can’t get on with it there is a 30 day trial period and you can send it back – its a no brainer!

Comfortable, quiet and effective, and a great value purchase too!. Sleepeaver Elan review

I’ve been using the Elan for two full weeks now and think it’s time for an in depth review.

The Elan is a cloth nasal mask with a harness / headgear that follows the current trend of avoiding a forehead strap. It is wider but shorter than the still available Sleepweaver Advance that has been my favoured mask for the last year.

It is not a replacement for the Advance, just a different model. Unlike the advance it has a proper 360 degree swivel and a short lightweight hose in the box, and comes in two sizes both of which are supplied in the box.

Initial fitting is simple when you realise the adjustment tab goes downwards. Disassembly for cleaning is also simple but reassembly is quite fiddly. It’s easy to pull the swivel from the mask if you tug the hose to try and remove the mask, but near impossible to reassemble in the dark.

The mask seals over the tip of the nose only, this makesa very secure seal using the air pressure to inflate the mask which secures well at my set pressures (8-10hpa)- I’ve briefley tried it at the extremes of my machine, 4 and 20, and it seals fine then too.

Venting is through a few smallholes at the bottom and is very well diffused, there’s no jet, and no noise, if the mask is assembled and sealed correctly. This and the advance are the only masks I have where the machine noise is louder than the mask noise.

The headgear has a crown strap, and a strap above and below the ears making it very stable. Unless I sleep on my side there are no strap marks in the morning, and minimal marks from the mask itself. It is just possible to wear glasses while using this mask.

I have found this mask to be as effective as any other, but oddly more comfortable with a 1-2hpa raise in pressure over the advance (but not as much as I need to make a fullface mask work). AHI is unchanged and the mask stays in position very well, only occasionally sliding up slightly causing an awakening and a repositioning.

So the pros: Over the advance it offers a more secure fit, less headgear pressure, even lower noise. Over an plastic mask it offers comfort and a great seal. Over pillows masks like the swift FX it offers lower irritation. Over any plastic nasal mask it offers lower noise, irritation and lighter weight and excellent stability

Cons: Hard to assemble / reassemble at night. The ligthweight hose can cause rainout / condensation which may need a reduction in humidity setting (but doesn’t mean a reduction in humidity levels, as the airflow is slower in this mask).

Conclusion: This is now my mask of choice, I’d been swapping from the Swift FX to the Advance every few weeks as the FX seals better but gives me some irritation that the Advance releives me from in a few days. The low noise, the great seal and the lack of irritation make this a top choice for a mask to try if you can get one from your clinic or afford to buy one.

What a disappointment – the leakiest mask I’ve ever tried. Having read great reviews for sleepweaver masks I was looking forward to possibly getting a decent night’s sleep for a change. However I was sorely disappointed. The first time I tried it on it just kept blasting air into my eyes. I followed all the instructions and spent a long time trying to adjust it but couldn’t achieve a reasonable seal. If I managed to stop leaks into my eyes I would just find it was leaking out round my mouth. Over the course of a few weeks I tried it again on several occasions but couldn’t get it to seal sufficiently to sleep with it. Then one of the velcro tabs on the headgear came off in my hand so it’s now unusable anyway.

If it would actually seal properly it might be quite comfortable, but it’s not easy to use and quality is poor judging by the fact it came apart after little use. I would have been quite happy with the price if it did actually work but as it is this mask is a complete waste of money.

Elan Starter Kit. I recently purchased the Elan starter Kit as a replacement for a comfort gel Mask.

This is the lightest and most comfortable mask I have tried, I am now sleeping through the night without waking to the sound of leaking mask.

Previous mask I would be lucky to have it on for more then 4hrs because of leaks.

    ANN

Great Mask. Have had this mask just over a week and very impressed so far. Hardly any leaking, headgear much better than my last Sleepweaver mask, doesn’t mess my hair up so much! Very comfortable and less face marks in the morning. Very happy so far.

Mixed review. I have been using these masks for a couple of years now and when they are new they are extremely comfortable to wear, how ever because of the poor quality of materials they are made from after a couple of months the cushion material stretches and tears, also the Velcro stops attaching to the head straps because it is not the correct loop material for the hook to attach too. I find I have to replace the mask every 3 to 4 months

In summery its a great comfortable mask but poorly made, you can see why they only offer a 30 day trail,

The Best Find!!!!. I am using Sleepweaver Masks for the last few years. I tried all other types & makes of masks and found them so uncomfortable which did not help my sleep. The Sleepweaver is so comfortable and pliable and does the job. No rashes or marks on my face in the morning. Try it – you won’t regret it.

Made my face very soar. Allows Cold air to blow into my eyes unless I have it very tight. This causes soarness on bottom lip and nose
