System One REMstar 60 - the leading CPAP system
Philips Respironics have built on the success of the M-Series by launching the all new System One REMstar 60 Auto CPAP System. The Auto model is the automatic-pressure version, which now boasts A-Flex for easier exhalation and automatic altitude compensation among its advantages. It boasts a more intuitive control system, improved usability and a technological package that makes it a difficult option to ignore. If you would prefer the fixed-pressure version of this CPAP system, have a look at the System One REMstar 60 Pro CPAP System.
The automatic version of the REMstar 60 series has several benefits over the Pro edition. Being an automatic CPAP machine, it is able to adjust the pressure being provided to ensure that you are receiving as much, or as little, as you need. As most of those with sleep apnoea can breathe normally for at least some of the night, there is little need to have constant pressure at all times. The automatic machine can detect when the user requires pressure, and to what level, making sleep more natural and comfortable. Over the course of a night, an automatic CPAP machine can use up to 40% less pressure than a regular CPAP system. The automatic can also change the pressure level if your sleep apnoea improves or worsens, rather than having to get your CPAP machine recalibrated. Because of the higher number of sensors found on the automatic model, more detailed information about your condition can be logged and stored on a handy SD memory card, much like those found in the majority of digital cameras, thanks to an inbuilt reader. This makes it simple to pass on the machine's feedback to your doctor, or to us, for further assessment and treatment.
Performance and reliability through precision design
The System One REMstar 60 is the result of extensive research and design, resulting in a product that is technologically advanced while still being incredibly reliable. The video below demonstrates the design and manufacturing process and shows the level of detail the Philips Respironics have gone to to create a machine of this quality.
A-Flex makes exhalation natural
The System One Resistance Control allows you to exhale easily and naturally. Every Philips Respironics mask has a number, and by putting that into the REMstar 60 it can compensate the correct amount of pressure for the resistance that mask generates. This means you get the correct pressure that you need, whatever mask you are wearing. In addition to this, the C-Flex system further enhances the quality of your sleep by giving pressure relief at exhalation. The A-Flex System found on the Auto model further enhances this by softening the breathing cycle between inhalation and exhalation, giving a natural and easy breathing cycle while you sleep. The minimising of the pressure transitions provides additional comfort when in fixed CPAP mode, thanks to its three-step automatic adjustment based on your individual expiratory flow.
The toggle dial system on the System One REMstar 60 Auto replaces the buttons found on the M-series, and provides an intuitive way of adjusting the settings as required. Philips Respironics have decided to remove the built-in humidifier of the M-series to allow the unit to be more compact and portable, but still give those who want a humidifier the option of having one. At 7" by 5.5" by 4", and weighing 3lbs, it is small and light enough to transport easily. Its art deco inspired design also ensures that it is also one of the most attractive machines on the market.
Separate humidifier pushes CPAP technology
The optional System One Heated Humidifier, available separately here, features a revolutionary design for controlling rain-out and water damage. By analysing the ambient temperature and the user's airflow, the System One Humidity Control is able to reach relative humidity at the mask. It is the first humidifier that is able to take room humidity into account. It has sensors both inside and outside the machine to to allow it to accurately measure changes in humidity, and prevent condensation from forming inside the tube.
The Dry Box system featured in the System One Humidity Control is another major advance in CPAP technology. It has an array of features designed to prevent water from leaving the chamber. These include a one-way valve between the machine and the humidifier. The water that manages to get past this valve is then caught in the Dry Box, which acts as a reservoir for escaped water. Additionally, the air outlet port has been re-positioned onto the top of the humidifier rather than the side, to centre the delivery and minimise the total water displacement around the hole. For more information about this humidifier take a look at the product page for the System One 60 Heated Humidifier.
Going on your travels? Take your System One 60 with you!
The System One REMstar 60 Auto makes for a great option if you are planning to travel. Its compact and lightweight design makes it portable and easy to transport, and it also comes with its own padded carry bag big enough to fit in a mask, too. The System One 60 can also be powered from a 12V source, meaning you can still use your CPAP if you are camping or doing something else causing you to be away from mains power. Simply hook it up to a 12V battery and away you go, and its low power consumption means it will not be a big drain either. Simply use the Respironics 12 DC Cable (sold separately) to connect it to a 12V source, such as a Tracer CPAP Battery Pack.
Despite the success of the M-series, Philips Respironics have not rested on their laurels, and have continued to lead the industry with their breakthrough technologies. The intuitive control system and A-Flex system are designed to enhance the usability of the System One REMstar 60 Auto. The A-Flex makes exhalation easier and more natural, as it lowers to pressure to prevent you breathing against the CPAP's flow. The Heated Humidifier, sold separately (see recommended products, below) further advances CPAP technology by virtually eliminating rain-out and water damage. By itself, it provides a user-friendly, portable and natural CPAP solution. Together, you have one of the most complete and advanced CPAP systems on the market.
Please note: This machine has replaced the older System One REMstar Auto, and is not compatible with humidifiers for the older generation. If you already own the previous generation humidifier, then you may wish to purchase the older machine model to maintain compatibility. However, as they are now discontinued, availability will become increasingly difficult and upgrading to this newer version, and the appropriate humidifier, would be a sound long-term choice.

Great value for money.
The best night's sleep I have had in years Review by Terence
Ease of Use Value Quality Website Information ComfortMy old NHS CPAP manchine used to leave me with the inside of my nose red raw in the morning so that I spent the whole day with my nose ultra sensitive and sneezing almost the whole day. Not any more. This machine is a godsend.(Posted on 28 November 2017)
Great machine! Really quiet Review by Tycho
Ease of Use Value Quality Website Information ComfortI bought this machine because I was moving countries and I couldn't keep my rented DeVilBiss Sleepcube. I was always having issues getting to sleep with that machine anyway because it has a very loud whine when breathing in. That made it very hard to forget about my breathing and relax.(Posted on 22 September 2017)
The first night when I was in hospital for the calibration test they used this model and I didn't remember it as being noisy, so I bought this same one. It turned out brilliant, so much quieter than the Sleepcube. I have set it to 2cm flex and the change of pitch is not noticeable. Also the overall noise is much lower. This machine really gets out of the way and lets you forget about it (as much as you can with a mask strapped to your face :) ). About the mask: I use it with the Philips Wisp Nasal mask, it's very lightweight, much more comfortable than the full-face masks I've seen others wear in the hospital. I would recommend the fabric version as the clear plastic strap is very tough and tends to push the mask away from my face when I turn at night. The fabric one is more flexible but probably a bit less durable, though it's held up fine for 2 months.
Another thing I really like is the integrated SD card feature (no more expensive add-on SmartLink module) and the auto on/off so I never even have to touch the machine. The user interface is also a lot more advanced with a nicer display and a rotating dial.
On top of all that this machine is a bit smaller and easier to move. I'm not using the auto feature but I got the auto model anyway in case my prescription changes in the future (as I'm moving country I'll get a new doctor).
Kelly from EU-PAP was super helpful with the order and fulfilling the required forms. Delivery was very quick and very well packaged.
Overall highly recommended!

Comfort Ease of Use Value Quality Website InformationI was renting the same machine and decided to buy as it made economic sense. Very happy with the service from Intus, couldn't fault their customer care. This auto-pap does everything I need, easy to use. Not the prettiest, but it's a workhorse.(Posted on 8 February 2017)
Good Choice Review by Chillbert
Comfort Ease of Use Value Quality Website InformationHaving used the Respironics M Series Pro for 7 years without any malfunction, I decided to stick to Respironics, when ordering a new device in order to make the old CPAP my travel device.(Posted on 7 October 2016)
After two weeks of use I am very satisfied with the new Auto CPAP device. The case design is somewhat outdated, but then again CPAP devices aren't intended to be iconic lifestyle products.
A big improvement compared to the M series is the conventional SD-Card for storage of data, as it eases the sleep data analyses e.g. with the free Sleepy Head software.

Superb Review by L
Ease of Use Value Website Information Quality ComfortI recently bought this Auto-CPAP system as my first CPAP machine and I have had excellent nights sleep since. It's very simple to use and adjust to suit your style of sleep.(Posted on 7 November 2012)
It also logs an amazing array of information for your doctor on the SD Card which if you are interested you can also read yourself using the software Encore Viewer (separate charge for software).
I would also recommend getting the System One REMstar Heated Humidifier as it vastly improves an already brilliant system.
Overall I cannot fault it so far. (Posted on 23/08/2010)

Excellent Review by meldrew
Ease of Use Value Website Information Quality ComfortRecently diagnosed with OSA, I had a wait of 2 weeks while waiting for the NHS to provide me with a CPAP machine.(Posted on 7 November 2012)
In the interim period, worried that the NHS machine would be ugly, old, noisy and unsuitable for travel, I searched the web and chose this machine. In particular, I was concerned that my machine should be lightweight and multi voltage for holidays, and my reading suggested a "ramp" start would be a good idea.
As I could not order one without notifying eu-pap of the desired settings, I waited until I got the NHS machine before placing an order.
That was pretty lucky, because the NHS have given me the exact machine I wanted!
Last night was my first night with the machine, and it took me a few hours to get used to wearing the mask, but from 4am onwards I felt "at home" with the machine.
My wife reports that I had the best (and quietest) sleep in 24 years of marriage, and that she was able to stay in the bedroom all night instead of moving into the lounge to sleep "without the noise of a road being dug up".
The ramp start helps make things far more comfortable, and the gel mask is... while not "comfortable" ... at least only mildly uncomfortable! The straps are smooth, there's no buckles in the way, and whether I sleep on my side or back I'm comfortable. (Posted on 30/11/2010)
